Outdoor Seating for the
Pencader Heritage Museum
by
Christian Muhlestein,   Troop 360

Completed June 2008

Project Description

The Pencader Heritage Area Association opened their museum in September, 2007. The museum is located on the only Revolutionary War battlefield in Delaware and it houses many artifacts associated with the 1777 Battle of Cooch’s Bridge, as well as artifacts and history displays of the Pencader/ Welsh Tract area. The museum has no outdoor facilities for visiting groups such as school children and civic groups. This project will provide outdoor seating and work areas for visiting groups in the form of basic picnic tables. Six tables will be built and placed adjacent to the museum and will provide seating for up to 50 people.

Building a Picnic Table

Building a picnic table is a project that can be fun and practical. This simple, but sturdy picnic table can comfortably seat six grownups; will provide years of service. You can build this table practically for free with the materials laying around a building site or your workshop. I used some 2x4’s left over from a building project, plus some 1x8 boards. The required 6-foot pieces will fit in the back of a small hatchback car!
