The Cooch Family History

The Cooch house on Old Baltimore Pike near Cooch’s Bridge dates from the 1740's and is believed to be the oldest residence in Delaware continuously occupied by the same family through today. General Cornwallis of the British army stayed in the house by commandeering it during the period of the Battle of Cooch’s Bridge in Sept 1777. Mr. Edward “Ned” Cooch continues to live there and is periodically graciously available to discuss the family history. Lectures would be at the PHAA Museum.
